Stampy Club Joy Fold Card

The weekly technique posted on Split Coast Stampers a couple of weeks ago was a Joy Fold Card.  I loved the look of it and thought that it would be a good project for our stamp club.  The clubs completed two versions of the card this week - simply because I am running out of current Designer Series Paper!

Here are the two different versions of the card.

The above card uses Live Your Dream and the matching Designer Series Paper.  No links for this as both were retired at the end of June.  It's all part of my "I HAVE to use up some of this paper to make room for more!!" scheme.

This card uses the Embrace Life stamp set and the co-ordinating Ginger Blossom paper.  The definition comes from Define Your Life.  The Designer Series Paper has been mounted onto River Rock cardstock, with black cardstock used for the smaller opening.

How can you make this card?  Simple!  Click here for the directions.

Happy stamping!

Easy Paper Roses (really!)

My stamp clubs this month are creating their three cards, but the two clubs will differ slightly in what papers they will be using.  Why you ask?  Simple.  I'm running out of this season's Designer Series Paper!  I'm soooo excited to see what the new catalogue will have in store for us...  Just 2 more weeks!

Anyhow, this card is one that both clubs will create, and it will look the same for both of them!  Imagine that!

The background paper is Barely Banana, while the mat and leaf colour is Always Artichoke.  The flower itself is three circles of Barely Banana that have been torn with curled edges.  I have glued a half-pearl from the Pretties kit into the centre.  The Happy Anniversary stamp came from the Hugs and Wishes set and has been stamped using Always Artichoke ink.

The best part about creating this card?  There's an awesome tutorial online that has been created by Julie Buhler, the stamper who designed this gorgeous card.

One last note:  I've updated my retired accessories list to reflect those items that are sold out.

Happy Stamping!

But I'm not quite out yet...

The ideas are still floating around, but nothing concrete yet!  I'm scrapbooking with a couple of friends this evening so I may yet have something new and fun to show you!

In the meantime, I've got a couple of card samples for your viewing pleasure.  Unfrogettable is one mighty cute set and I will miss it.  I may keep it though so that I can make more spinning frogs!  Although, I've made a few of the spinner cards using the big crab from Crab and Company and they are darned cute too.  Great kid's birthday cards!!

A Touch of Nature is a beautiful set.  I love the simplicity of this card.  The copper cardstock is already sold out...

Finally, Noble Deer is one of those great "man" sets.  Cards for the guys in our life are hard to make.  My hubby is pretty good at telling me if something has too many flowers on it, but every once in awhile one gets through the cracks.  BTW... the mottled background behind the deer?  It's a great technique using coffee filters & reinkers!

Happy stamping!

I'm almost out of samples...

Very soon I'll start posting some fun creations using my new In Colour and Designer Series Paper!!  The summer keeps getting in the way of my scrapping & stamping.  I have oodles of ideas, but nothing committed to paper yet.  Soon...  I promise you!

A couple of cute card samples from Eat Cake this evening.  The first is a card that I made at a "workshop".   The workshop was actually held by another demo in my upline, and the participants were a pile of Stampin' Up! demos!  We're weren't the best customers she's ever had...  anyhow, we walked away from the demo with this card.  It's simple to make, and only uses 1 stamp set.  The second card is one that I received in a swap a year ago.  I love the beads on the cake!

Enjoy!

Retiring In Colour card samples

In honour of today's release of the retiring accessories list, I am posting some cards where the stamps themselves are not retiring, but the colours used in the cards are.

Brocade Basics is a great set that I keep going back to over and over again.  For some reason I have to cut out the images though.  I love this card but it took awhile to make.  Next time I'm going to try using the hand-cut flourishes in my scrapbook.  As for the colours...  those would be Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi (the BEST colour for matching with trees and grass in scrapbooking) and Blue Bayou.

Garden Whimsy is the set that creates these gorgeous flowers.  However, the Groovy Guava and Purely Pomegranate paper and ink will be disappearing soon :(.

Happy stamping and I hope to see you this evening!

Don't forget - Accessories Retirement list and Open House tomorrow night!!

The Stampin' Up! Retired Accessories list is being released tomorrow.  Make sure you have a look at it to see if there's anything your heart really desires before everything runs away.

We've already heard that the Purely Pomegranate and Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon has been sold out.  Make sure that you get your order in by the end of tomorrow evening.

My Retirement Open House is taking place tomorrow evening, from 7:30-9:30.  This is your chance to come out and see some of the retiring stamps, as well as look at the accessories list.  It is a free event, and everyone who comes out and places an order will be able to do one of the following:
  • Make 3 cards from scratch (paper has been cut)  OR
  • Choose 6 card fronts from my stash o' samples and then adhere them to cardstock to create full cards
The scratch cards are designs that I use in my traditional workshops.  I have leftovers of some of the card materials, and this is your opportunity to finish them off and take them home!

Where is the open house?  In my dining room of course - 2 Tavistock Avenue, Brooklin.  Let me know if you need directions.

I hope to see you there!

Ooo la la! French Flair samples!

French Flair is one of the background stamps that is being retired next month.  Both of the following samples use it as the main image on the card, and both demonstrators chose to use Sincere Salutations (which is not retiring) for their sentiment.

Enjoy your weekend!

Another dose of Artfully Asian

I really do have a lot of samples from this set.  Here are some more fun cards for you to peruse.

This one is from a swap that I was in a few months ago.  I swiped the design from Splitcoaststampers and love the final product.  It's hard to see but the back ground is embossed using clear embossing powder.

Another sample using Basic Black and Sahara Sand paper.  A very simpl
e card to make, but good for those men in our lives that don't like flowers.  The black patch beside the sentiment has the same leaves as those on the background, but they've been embossed with clear embossing powder.  Really difficult to photograph!

This card uses Old Olive as the background, combined with copper accents.  A great combination together!

Last, but certainly not least, I really like this card.  I received this in a swap over a year ago and it's one of my favourite samples.

Enjoy the weekend!

Artfully Asian samples

As you all know, the retired stamp list is out.  Here are some (sniff) samples from Artfully Asian, one of my favourite sets.  I'm sad that it's retiring, but I'm sure that I'll find something fun to take it's place.  I would love to give credit to all of the people that had a hand in these designs but I can't as I don't know who created all of them!

Enjoy!

A couple of July notes...

2 things for you this evening.  These have been floating through my brain this evening and I really need do something about it!

First off, there is a new and updated Hostess Benefits chart available.  Stampin' Up! has improved the chart so that it's easier to earn some of your favourite hostess sets.  I've seen some of the sets from the upcoming catalogue, and they are amazing!!!  Hosting a workshop or class is a great way to earn some of these sets, as well as some free product.  Check out the new chart here.

Secondly, the Hodgepodge Hardware kits that are in the current catalogue are being retired as of August 10th.  These kits are currently being offered at a 25% discount  (they're now only $25.08*!) and contain oodles of fun stuff to use on cards or scrapbook pages.  You can see them on page 188 of the current Spring-Summer 2008 Collection.  One thing though... this is a while supplies last offer and I can see them going really fast once the accessories retirement list is released next Monday.

* Listed price also includes 7% Canadian price adjustment discount

Next up:  I have tons, and tons of card samples that use sets that are on the retired stamp list.  I'll start posting some of them tomorrow.  Let me know if you like the samples and want to order any of the sets that are being featured!

Happy stamping!

See? Mildly better...

More scrappy pages for you today.  Our family went on a quick jaunt to New Jersey last year for Canadian Thanksgiving.  Apparently it's really difficult to buy a large turkey in New Jersey in early October.  My brother-in-law managed to do so, and we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner in the U.S.

One of the best parts of the weekend for my kids was the whole "airport thing".  They had never flown before, and were incredibly excited.  Once we arrived in Newark, and they saw their cousin (the other best part of the weekend for them), they calmed down a bit.  I went shopping...

Hmmm... what's on this page.  The 12x12 paper is SU! from 2 catalogues ago.  I kept it as I knew at some point I would need some travel paper.  Cardstock used was Cranberry Crisp & Kraft; inks were Cranberry Crisp & Sahara Sand; ribbon was Cranberry Crisp stitched; and the embellishments came from my Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

Oh yeah.  The goofy guy making faces?  That's my husband...

Happy stamping!

Yikes! I'm behind!

Wow!   Summer vacation has barely begun and I'm already wickedly behind.  I think I'm going to have to petition for a second computer in this house.  It seems that unless I work at very odd hours I can't get near my Mac.

So, I'm actually going to try and put a few posts together and stagger their posting times so that we may end up having somewhat regular postings again.  What a novelty!

First off... the A-Z scrapbook album is alive and well.  However... it is no longer just a Stampin' Up! album.  I came to the realization recently that I own far too many scrappy tools to just limit myself to my SU! tools.  Along with the tools comes all of the 12x12 paper that is stored away, as well as the... gulp... embellishments and ribbon.  In the end I gave up and although there are SU! elements on every page, there's a lot more of everything else.

Here's today's offering:  My kids, at Wonderland last year, were total Adrenaline Junkies.  I'd love to tell you what everything is and where it came from, but some of it is completely unknown.  I'll edit the post later if I find it.

Happy stamping!
