More Scrappy Pages

Yesterday I promised you the second set of scrappy pages from this week's upcoming club nights.  Once again, I'm having Blogger loading issues (somewhere around Christmas I'll switch my blog and hopefully some of this is taken care of!!!), so I have the separate page photos instead of a layout that shows both side by side.

The second set of pages from this week's Scrapbook club look like this:

These pages were created using the Summer Home Simply Scrappin' Kit, and I've added my crazy letter.  I'm about two thirds of the way through the A-Z book, and I'm really hoping that this club helps me with my own pages!!!  They've been a bit neglected of late.

Happy Scrappin!  I'm off to chop paper for next weekend's Stamp-A-Stack!

Scrapbook club - it's finally here!

Today's entry in my crazy stamping blog has very little to do with stamping - it's all about scrapbooking!  My scrapbooking clubs meet this coming week for the first time, and today I'm sharing one of the layouts that we'll be putting together.

I'd love to show you a picture of the pages side by side, but Blogger is being very picky this morning and it won't upload the photo!  Picture these two beside each other and you'll get the idea.

Each participant will be using a Simply Scrappin' kit of their choice, allowing them to personalize their album.  I've chosen to start this club using the Summer Home kit.  This month's layouts are fairly simple, with little in the way of embellishments.  It won't stay this way forever though...

Until tomorrow, happy stamping and scrapbooking!

More from Back to the Future - Whitby style!

Back to this past weekend's scrappying...  I forgot to mention yesterday that when we were sitting around the table we were all a bit uninspired.  I had hoped to get a bunch of pictures glued, with good stuff to go with them.  I got a whack of stuff glued, and that was about it.  I finished these off a couple of days ago.

I have to laugh (better than crying) because these two pages are incredibly unbalanced!  I generally have a lot of symmetry on my pages, and these two are anything but.  I did use some awesome rub-ons though, and managed to get some journalling down.

Once again, pages that make me cringe, but the names and faces are there - and that's what counts in scrapbooking.

I'll get back to some 2008 stuff tomorrow.  I've been playing with glass etching this week.  Come and see what my results are!

Enjoy!

Going Back in Time

When I set out to scrap on Friday evening, I realized that I didn't have any of my 2007 pictures matched with paper and ready to go.  I did however, have pictures from 1986!  When I ran out of photos a  year ago (and didn't want to start the crazy A-Z album) I went back in time a bit.  The book that these pages are in contains photos that are at least 20 years old.

The object of this book is simply to get everything down, with names to the faces.  I haven't been going quite as crazy as I have in my other ongoing project, and consequently I'm not loving these pages as much.  However, I do have a permanent record now of my friends, and I won't lose any of the pictures along the way.

Just wait until they discover though that their high school faces are actually posted on the Net...

Sleeping at Zzzzzzachary's house.

As you know, the A-Z album is all about 2007.  I'll be lucky if it's finished before the end of 2008!  One of last year's memorable events was a big sleepover down the street.  Fortunately Jen, mom of Zachary, took lots of photos.  This layout shows all of the kids in action.

I'd like to say that there is tons of Stampin' Up! stuff on these pages but... outside of the chipboard letter, I don't think there's anything.  The paper is part of a big slab that I have, the eyelets came from Michael's, the mat cardstock is from Michaels, and the letters were cut using my QuicKutz.  There's a bit of journalling beside the photos and this was done using my SU! journal pen.

I've been working on a cute mini-scrapbook for the past couple of days.  Right now it's put together, using crappy non-SU! cardstock.  But... I'll try and put the real one together and post it as soon as it's finished.  It's all a question of time.  Tonight is stamp club, and I'm heading out to see Avenue Q with friends tomorrow evening so it may not go up until the weekend.

Happy stamping!

Back to the alphabet!

I've managed to get a bit of scrapping done in the past couple of weeks, so I've got more of the infamous A-Z album to share.  Today's installment showcases the letter "R" - Road Trip!!!

The paper is Dashing DSP (now retired), with Old Olive textured 12x12 paper as the base.  I've added some Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, and some thicker red ribbon that I found at Michael's.  I think that the brads are from the 'Rama, but I'm not sure.  The journalling was done on River Rock cardstock, and the mats have been done using Real Red.  The title was stamped using the Headline Alphabet (retired), and the date was stamped using the Short Order (current) alphabet.  All stamping was done using Real Red and Old Olive ink, and the chipboard letter was covered with Designer Series Paper and sanded.

I used a few tools on these pages - Scallop Edge punch, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" punches, Photo Corner punch, mat pack, and the Crop-a-dile (latter two are for making perfect holes in the photo corners).  I've also used my Creative Memories circle cutters.  Whoops!  Did I say that out loud???

There's a pile of journalling on these two pages.  Far more than what I normally add.  For these pages I needed it because even though it was only a day trip to Buffalo to watch a Bills game, lots of fun stuff happened.  When was the last time you saw a scalper drop a $20 bill on the street and keep on going?  We snatched that bill (to the chagrin of the people in the car behind us who saw what happened) and it payed for our parking!

Happy stamping, and scrapbooking!

E is for...

Fast blog entry today.  I've been preparing for a workshop tonight, and it's been slow going.  It's really difficult to get anything important done when you have kids chasing you all day!

I finished these pages last night.  Nothing fancy, but cute nonetheless.  The background paper is EK Success, and I've had it forever!  The matting paper is Chocolate Chip & More Mustard.  The chipboard letter on this page has been chalked, and has a very cute flower attached.  I've added a couple of the flowers from the Stampin' Up! Pretties kit, and it's done.

Lots of news in the Stampin' Up! world.  I'll start posting all of the goodies tomorrow.  If the kids will let me...

Happy stamping!

Christmas in July?!?

When you are a scrapbooker, you often find yourself working on things that are just a little out of season.  On Wednesday night I finished the letter "O" in my crazy book, with the title "O Christmas Tree".

Here are some pictures for you.  One of these days I'll figure out why on earth you cannot click and pull a larger version.  Maybe once the snow begins to fly and I don't have things like meadows to cut weighing heavily on my mind.

Now... did you find the new stamps on the page???  Let me know if you did!

Happy Scrapping!

See? Mildly better...

More scrappy pages for you today.  Our family went on a quick jaunt to New Jersey last year for Canadian Thanksgiving.  Apparently it's really difficult to buy a large turkey in New Jersey in early October.  My brother-in-law managed to do so, and we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner in the U.S.

One of the best parts of the weekend for my kids was the whole "airport thing".  They had never flown before, and were incredibly excited.  Once we arrived in Newark, and they saw their cousin (the other best part of the weekend for them), they calmed down a bit.  I went shopping...

Hmmm... what's on this page.  The 12x12 paper is SU! from 2 catalogues ago.  I kept it as I knew at some point I would need some travel paper.  Cardstock used was Cranberry Crisp & Kraft; inks were Cranberry Crisp & Sahara Sand; ribbon was Cranberry Crisp stitched; and the embellishments came from my Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

Oh yeah.  The goofy guy making faces?  That's my husband...

Happy stamping!

Yikes! I'm behind!

Wow!   Summer vacation has barely begun and I'm already wickedly behind.  I think I'm going to have to petition for a second computer in this house.  It seems that unless I work at very odd hours I can't get near my Mac.

So, I'm actually going to try and put a few posts together and stagger their posting times so that we may end up having somewhat regular postings again.  What a novelty!

First off... the A-Z scrapbook album is alive and well.  However... it is no longer just a Stampin' Up! album.  I came to the realization recently that I own far too many scrappy tools to just limit myself to my SU! tools.  Along with the tools comes all of the 12x12 paper that is stored away, as well as the... gulp... embellishments and ribbon.  In the end I gave up and although there are SU! elements on every page, there's a lot more of everything else.

Here's today's offering:  My kids, at Wonderland last year, were total Adrenaline Junkies.  I'd love to tell you what everything is and where it came from, but some of it is completely unknown.  I'll edit the post later if I find it.

Happy stamping!

We came, we saw, we scrapped.

This weekend's scrapbooking jaunt to Wasaga Beach was  both relaxing and productive.  We ate, we scrapped, we ate some more, we scrapped some more... you get the picture.

Here's a quick pic of this weekend's production.  We had 2 digital scrappers, and 4 traditional scrappers, and this is what we accomplished.  And we still had time to eat!

Happy stamping/scrapping!

Yikes!

Well, it's been a busy few days, and there are a few more to come!

Our Stamp-A-Stack / Scrapbooking crop is being held on Saturday, and there's a flurry of activity amongst the demonstrators who are preparing for it.  In addition, stamp club is next week, and I'm sitting down with a group of 10 year olds for a birthday party next Friday night.  How's that for busy?!?

I did manage to finish off another layout in my crazy A-Z scrapbooking album.  This time it's the letter "B".  "B" as in Brrrrr.... it's cold out outside.  And it really is!  I'm a bit dismayed at how cold it is considering it's May 21st.

Enjoy!

How did it come to this??

As some of you know, I used to detest scrapbooking.  I'm no longer sure why, as I've always loved paper crafts.  Heck, I've always loved paper!  I can go into a stationary store (do they still exist?) and mill about for hours on end.  There used to be one in downtown Oakville that had the best stuff.  Ah, memories...

Back to scrapbooking.  I've been making my own cards for years, but my first foray into scrapping was in the fall of 2001.  I yanked apart our family photo albums and created two albums - one for me, and one for my mom.  I didn't enjoy the process.  I'm sure that part of the reason is that while I was working at the dining room table the piles of boxes grew around me.  I finished just before Christmas, and we moved on January 7, 2002.

My second attempt at scrappin' was my wedding album.  It is better than the first one (which I am now systematically taking apart as I "rescrap" the pictures), and it gets better the farther into the album you go.  But... I still didn't really enjoy it.

My friend Marci has been listening for almost 3 years that it's her fault that I started really scrapping (and enjoying it!).  She gave me an 8x8 album kit when Michelle was born, and told me that I had to do her baby album as a scrapbook.  I did, and the rest is history.  I'm now obsessed, and really prefer it to card-making (although it seems like I don't have enough time for either!).

My 2007 scrapbook really is going to take some time, with a whole lot of creativity thrown in.  I've sort of planned it out: the pictures are sorted and categorized, but they haven't all been matched with letters.  I have a feeling that I may live to regret this A-Z book that I'm doing, but I'm committed now and can't stop.  The other wrench that I've thrown in is that the entire book will be made using Stampin' Up! products.  I may cave at some point and use some of my QuicKutz dies, but for the moment I'll stick with my paper, stamps, and embellishments.  I've now finished three layouts for the 2007 book.  I've already posted "G", and here come "F" and "W".
Stay tuned for more pages in the weeks to come...  You may even see yourself in the pictures!

What a busy weekend!

This weekend has been unbelievably productive.  Derek and I have done a pile of stuff this morning that resulted in a much cleaner laundry room, hockey equipment that's ready to go down south (aka the basement) for the summer, and a fridge with a door that closes!

Last night was my first ever stamp camp.  We made three mini albums, and although we didn't get the final one finished, we still had fun!  I'll definitely do something like this again, but this time I won't make the girls work so fast.  I'll be loading pics of the books to Split Coast, so check out my gallery!

I have a workshop tomorrow evening with a bunch of ladies that are new to scrapbooking.  We're going to put together the page below in an effort to get them started.  I like the layout as it's very simple and you can use full 4"x6" photos.  However, it's definitely missing something...  lots of embellishments!!!  You know me... I'm the queen o' stuff!  I can totally see myself bringing this home, putting together an accompanying page, and then adding oodles of stuff!!!  We shall see...

I promised you a photo of my spinner card.  Check it out!  Isn't the frog just the cutest thing??  This was one very fun card to put together!  I think I'm going to make another one!!!

'Til tomorrow...

A new Crop Partner!

One last quick note this evening...

We have another partner for our big Scrapbooking crop on May 24th.  Cathy Hogan, from Creative Memories, will also be at the crop!

Have a peek at her website here!

We all hope to see you on May 24th - please let us know if you can come!!

Loonies for Littles - I've got pics!

I spent this afternoon playing with my Loonies for Littles Stampin' Kit.  What a lot of fun!  The instructions that come with the kit show you the layout for the cover, as well as one scrapbook page inside.  I now have the covers finished, as well as 12 of the 20 inside pages.  Although Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive are not my favourite colours to work with, this book is pretty cute.  It would make a great Mother's Day gift for someone!  As soon as I've finished this post I'm heading back into my dining room to try and finish it off.

Here are some pictures for you...

The top photo is the front cover of the album, and the other two are select pages from the inside.  The only things that I've added to the creation of this album are the use of Soft Sky classic ink, and the Priceless stamp set.  Many of the images on the stickers and paper are from this set, so I'm using it!  I haven't embellished the living daylights out of it - yet.  Stay tuned on that one...

Enjoy!

Loony & Scrappy!

Wow!  I've actually been busy this weekend scrapping.  I just received a shipment of over 200 photos from Shutterfly this week, so I was finally able to start scrapping my 2007 family memories.

First up were my Christmas pictures from 2006.  Not part of 2007, but they were in the shipment, and there was an empty space in the album waiting for these pages, so here they are...

It's hard to see in the photo, but there are a few stamps on the page.  I really like (but you can't really see) the Christmas presents from Crazy for Christmas on the strips of Real Red under the title.  They look mighty cool on the page!

Secondly, I took the opportunity this afternoon to SCRAP!  I feel guilty working on any kind of project when there are other people in the house.  Sorry... other people that are actually awake!  Michy's been suffering with a nasty cold for the last couple of days, and Chris was just downright grouchy today.  Both had a "rest" in their rooms today while Derek and Brendan played video games, and I SCRAPPED!

The best part?  I finished the letter "G" today!  See, I had this idea that my 2007 album would be an A to Z album.  Hence the reason that I haven't scrapped any of it as of yet.  You kinda need to know what to scrap before you can plan this sucker out.  You also woulda kinda thought that maybe I should plan out exactly which set of pictures go with which letter and their subsequent title...  That would make a pile of sense.  I'm not doing that.  At least not yet.  BTW... have I mentioned that I haven't done letters A through F?  Oh, and that I'm going to try to use only Stampin' Up! stuff in the book???  My poor QuicKutz!  It's going to feel so abandoned...

In the meantime, here's letter G for your viewing pleasure!
Okay, so that's all for today (as said in my best Bob & Doug MacKenzie voice).  I've got lots to do this week, so you'll see something new really soon!  I hope...

Last chance...

Look!  Pictures!

For those of you that have considered signing up for the mini-scrapbook stamp camp on April 12th, but haven't yet done so, this is your last chance to sign up!  The camp will start at 7pm and run until you're finished your projects.  If we're finished at 3am, we're finished at 3am.  Hopefully it won't take that long!  Cost is $65 and it includes everything to make the books except for adhesive.  You will need SNAIL and glue dots to complete the books.

I only have 3 spaces left, and you must sign up by Monday, March 24th to secure your spot.

Wanna know what you'll be making?  Three mini scrapbooks, all using current SU! products.  Included are some really fun things!  Rub-ons, Hodgepodge Hardware, flowers from the Pretties kit, and lots of ribbon!

If you're interested, give me a call or send me an e-mail at littleinklings@rogers.com.

Here's a sneak peek of all three scrappy projects...
