The most adorable Santa box

I had a bunch of kids over on Saturday morning for some stamping (although it was more punching than stamping) and we made some cute projects together.

I think the cutest was this Santa box.  Another demo had given me a sample for this box, and I had to make it.  They are super easy, and great for kids as they involve a lot of punches, and I don't know a child out there that doesn't love the Stampin' Up! punches.

Before we added the cord to these, we put a couple of Hershey Kisses inside - just for a small treat.  Yummy!

Happy stamping!

Tile Workshop - November 17th

I just finished writing and sending my October newsletter.  Most of the info is the same as my last blog entry but... I've added something.  My November class will be a tile workshop.  The cost is $10 for one set of tiles, or $15 for two sets of tiles.  Included in the cost is the box for your tiles - we'll make these while they are drying.  If you purchase a background stamp at the workshop, I will waive the workshop fee for one set of tiles!

The date is Monday, November 17th.  The place is my house!  You can sign up for one of two sessions - 9:15am, or 7:30pm.

If you're interested in coming to this class, please e-mail or call ASAP to secure your spot.  Space is limited!

Happy stamping!

The Basic Card Box - Priceless style!

The last box that I will be posting is the basic card box.  We will be making this box in my upcoming card box class.  The original class on Tuesday, September 16th is full.  However, I've opened a second class on Monday, September 15th at 9:15am.  Please e-mail or call if you'd like to come.

For those of you that come to this second class, be warned... small children are allowed to come!!!  Why you ask?  My daughter (who turns 3 on September 19) will have someone to play with!

Anyhow, this box was put together using Taken with Teal and Apricot Appeal Cardstock and ink.  The stamps are from Priceless.  It's not the best stamping that I've ever done, but there's a story to go with that...

One day very soon I'll post the templates for all of the boxes that are in my blog.   Once I can figure out how to do that.  Hmmm...

Enjoy!

It's time to plan for Christmas!!

I'm planning out the month of October (yes, I know it's only September 4th), and have just scheduled in October's class of the month.  What we will be making?  Christmas planners!!!  Just in time for the holiday season.

The planner is really functional as it includes spaces to hold different lists and items, as well as a pen and a calendar (not included in the photos, but will be part of the class).  Each participant will be able to personalize their planner, and I have not added any dates so that the planner can be used each year.

I am offering the classes at 2 different times, to help people schedule around their busy lives.  Classes are as follows:

Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30pm
Wednesday, October 15th at 9:15am

The cost for the class is $15/tin.  If you would like to attend, please e-mail or call by October 1st to reserve your spot.  These classes will likely fill up quickly!!

Enjoy!

A Calming Cup of Green Tea

Wow!  What a busy week!!!  I'm really hoping that things will start to settle down now that the kids are back in school.  I have a sneaking suspicion though that the opposite will happen!

I have another box to share with you this afternoon.  The base to the box is the same as the Candied Cherry box, however this time I've added a lid.  This is another of the boxes that we will be making in our upcoming box class on September 16th.  The class is currently full, but if I have enough interest, I will hold a second class.  E-mail me if you want to come!

The base has been constructed using Baja Breeze cardstock, and has been stamped using one of the stamps from Embrace Life.  I have stamped it first in Old Olive, and then in Versamark.  As a result, one set of flowers stands out while the rest fade into the background.

The lid of the box was constructed using Green Tea Designer Series Paper.  I have added a splash of Baja Breeze striped ribbon, and have secured the ribbon to the lid using a jumbo brad.  I found the brad a bit of a challenge to put in because I assembled the lid before I punched the hole.  I think that our upcoming box class will use Build-A-Brads instead.

Enjoy!!

Candied cherries

For those of you that are attending my box class on September 16th, here's another one of the card boxes that we will be making.  With a base of Real Red, and some Summer Picnic designer paper, this is a great design for late summer bbqs.

The class is currently full, but if you would like to be put on a waiting list for the next class, please e-mail me!

Enjoy!

A familiar card with a new twist

Some of my stamp club members will recognize this card as being somewhat familiar, but almost the entire card is different.

I don't have a copy of the original card that this is based on, but I can tell you that the flowers in the centre were stamped using Bud Basics, and that I have used both Well-Worn words and the Paisley background stamps for the background.  The original background covered the entire card, the sentiment was on the left, and there was no ribbon or Jumbo eyelet.

So, I guess it is a new card!  Only the basic outline and colours are the same.  This one uses the Stitched Exotics set for the big flowers, and the Stitched background stamp (isn't it amazing?!?) on the background.  The colours used are Perfect Plum, Mellow Moss, and Very Vanilla.  I used a Pewter Jumbo Eyelet on the flowers, and then attached them to the Mellow Moss square.  The new Scallop Edge punch was used on the bottom of the background.  It is extremely easy to make scalloped edges using this new punch!!  The sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly set, and has been heat embossed in silver.  Finally, some Mellow Moss ribbon has been added to finish it off.

If you need the dimensions for the card, please drop me an e-mail.

Enjoy!

A Bella Purse

One of my favourite sections of the new catty is the Embellishments section.  I'm soooo excited about the new Designer Series Papers (DSP), and can hardly wait for mine to arrive!  Which ones did I order?  Green Tea, Maine Blueberry, Holiday Treasures and Ghostly Greetings.  With any luck they'll arrive next week and I'll have even more fun stuff to drool over...

Speaking of DSP... check out the card purse that I made.  This purse was created using the Bella Rose DSP and some Chocolate Chip cardstock.  I have also used the very cool and very easy to use Scallop Edge punch (pg. 189 in the catty) to add some detailing.

If you like this and want to learn how it's created, you need to sign up for my Card Box class on September 16th (7:30-9:30).  The cost is $15, and when you leave you will have four different styles of card boxes that have been created from scratch.  These can then be used to hold cards and envelopes, and are an excellent way to package up your cards to give away as gifts.

All of this rain has put a huge damper on our summer, but remember... when it rains you can stamp!

Birthdays...

Birthdays are inevitable.  Mine's coming up, so I'm thinking about it.  It's a good thing that it's not a big one!  I'm angling for a couple of rather unusual gifts for someone my age... another Webkinz to ensure that my account isn't deactivated around my birthday, and Lego Indiana Jones for my xbox360.  I'll let you know if my husband and kids take the bait.

Speaking of birthdays, I did a party last night for 10 wonderful girls.  Yes -  I do parties!  Tell your friends!!!  Anyhow, here's what we made together.

The birthday girl's mom liked the idea of the girls making a Father's Day card.  This one is pretty easy, and gives them a bit of stamping to try.  I should have taken pictures of their cards because not one of them looked like mine!  That creative bunch was putting things all over the place, in a manner that suited them the best.  None were the same, and each girl was proud of what she made.

We also made shadowboxes.  Mom of the birthday girl took pictures of each party guest with the guest of honour, and then high-tailed it out to Wal-Mart to have them developed while we were stamping away.  When the girls were finished their shadowboxes (again, none of them looked exactly like mine!) each one had a special memory to take home at the end of the party.  They LOVED them!

I'm off to flop in front of the TV.  It was an incredibly busy week, and I'm grateful for a bit of down time.  I think that I'll probably scrapbook or make some thank you cards tomorrow, and with any luck I may actually get to the sewing of my family room window coverings this week!  That may be TOO ambitious though...

Stay tuned, and happy stamping!

Serves me right...

I had two new cards finished this afternoon.  Did I take pictures of them when the wonderful sunshine was streaming into the dining room?  No.  Now that I have three cards finished, it's 11:00pm, and the pictures of each are lousy.

For those of you that are coming to tomorrow evening's "Try something new!" workshop, here's a sneak peek of what you'll be making...

Mmmmmm.... flowers from the Pretties kit!  More details (and decent photos!) tomorrow.

What on earth do I do with Chipboard???

After last night, hopefully we have more people inspired to do something with their chipboard instead of letting it rot on their shelves!

Last night's class was all about chipboard. We took a pack of the On Board Accents and Elements, and we inked them, papered them, sanded them, embossed them, beaded them, and poked holes in them! Each participant was given a pack of chipboard, along with a sanding block and a very helpful (I hope!) list of things that you can do with chipboard. By the end of the evening, each chipboardee had 17 samples, along with a wonderful chipboard tag!

On to the next project! This weekend is all about designing cards for an upcoming swap as well as next week's stamp clubs. Oh, and the Easter bunny too! I need to find good places to hide piles of eggs...

Happy Easter!
