Clamming around at the Stack

For those of you that have been following my posts over the last couple of days, you'll know that this is the third Stamp-A-Stack card that I'm posting.  I'm going to post a couple of photos of it to ensure that you see how it was constructed.  Full credit for this card goes to Jennifer Tinline - I love this card!!

The main background is Real Red.  This caused me quite a bit of consternation in the days leading up to the Stamp-a-Stack as the paper was on backorder, and I wasn't sure if it was going to arrive in time!!  In the end, I did have the paper and was infinitely grateful that it showed up!  I used Baja Breeze for the inside, as well as some Baja Breeze Prints Designer Series Paper for the front panel.  Mr. Christmas Clam was stamped in Basic Black, on some wonderful Shimmery White paper.  He's layered on Real Red and Chocolate Chip cardstock.  A piece of Real Red grosgrain ribbon adds a nice touch.  He was coloured using markers and blender pens.

Until tomorrow... happy stamping!

More Stamping & Stacking

Bonjour again!

Welcome to the second of the of the cards that we made at our Christmas stamp-a-stack.  This one is super easy!!!

All of the stamps on this card come from the Snow Swirled set.  I have used Old Olive as the main card base, and then added layers of Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White.  The largest snowflake is stamped using Elegant Eggplant ink, while the second largest snowflake and the sentiment were stamped in Night of Navy.  The smallest snowflake was stamped in Old Olive.

It's difficult to see, but there are some Dazzling Diamonds in the centres of the snowflakes.

Enjoy!

Stamp-A-Stacking

Hi all!  Wow - it's been 10 days since I've posted anything.  Having a stamp-a-stack and getting a nasty cold will do that to you.  I'm feeling pretty under the weather this afternoon, but this doesn't require a lot of movement on my part, and Michelle is currently engrossed in Cinderella.

These cards are one of the designs that we had at our Stamp-A-Stack.  It's a little more complicated that some of the other cards that were there, but everyone seemed to like the cards.  The stamps used are both current hostess sets - Best Yet and Deer Friends.  I've also used some Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper, and some Riding Hood Red & Baja Breeze cardstock and ribbon.

The card is designed and punched in such a way that when you open up the card, you can still see the deer/tree as they are adhered to the inside of the card.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when you'll get to see another one of our stack cards.  And you really will because I'm about to write tomorrow's post!

Top secret no longer

Corrie Birnbaum and I sat down last night to finalize the Stamp-A-Stack cards.  We had a little help from our scrapping friends, and I think that we have some really nice cards for the stack!  What do they look like?  Well, you'll just have to come and see!

There's still room if you (and a friend!) would like to come.  E-mail me at littleinklings@rogers.com or call at 905-655-9347 to sign up!  It's only $25, you'll be stamping in a room with lots of windows and friends, and you'll leave with 12 designer Christmas cards to give to those special people in your life!

I'll give you a couple of small hints of what's to come:

... one of the cards has snowflakes
... another uses Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper
... two have some colouring (bring your blender pens!)

Here's one the cards that didn't make the cut.  I CASE'd the card from one that I saw on Splitcoaststampers created by Julie Monroe.  You can see the original card here.

I've changed the card slightly, but I still love the look of it.  It would look lovely with some sparkle added, or maybe some Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The main card has been made using Brocade Blue cardstock.  I have cut/punched the middle layer in Night of Navy, and the Snowflakes from Snow Swirled have been stamped in Brocade Blue and Night of Navy ink on Whisper White cardstock.

Enjoy!

We will be hosting our annual Christmas Stamp-A-Stack on Saturday, November 15th.  It will be held at the Winchester Golf Club (east side of Brooklin) from 1-4pm.

You'll be making 12 cards - 2 each of 6 designs - all for only $25.  All of your paper is precut and instructions and supplies are provided.  We'll also have door prizes!

Registration is first come, first served, and space is limited.  To secure your registration, please pay your entrance fee as soon as possible - it's the only way that we can guarantee your spot!  Registration closes on October 27th to ensure that we have enough supplies ordered and prepared for our stampers.

*NEW*  Have a friend that I haven't met attend the event, and I'll chop $5 off your registration fee.  Sign up 2 and I'll chop $10.  Bring 5 and you get in for free!

More Mega-Meeting Cards

I hope you enjoyed the swap cards that I posted yesterday.  Today I am posting photos of the six cards that we all created at the meeting on Saturday.

First up is a very cute card that uses the birds from Zoofari.  I have made cards before using this card recipe (4 rectangles with a square in the centre) and have found them to be easy and effective.  This card uses Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze ink and paper.  The birds have been coloured using ink refills and blender pens, and the centre square is actually a small card attached to the front of the larger card.  The feather adds a unique touch.

This card was stamped using the Upsy Daisy set.  The colours used are More Mustard and Really Rust.  The frame was die cut using the Big Shot and the Top Note Bigz Die (one of our exclusive Stampin' Up! dies for the Big Shot).  I'd love to say that I stamped this one but...  I completely forgot to stamp one of my cards and this was the one!  Colleen and Jennifer Tinline kindly put this one together for me.

The main image on this card was stamped using the Christmas stamp from a Flower for all Seasons.  This is a great set for those that are just beginning to colour images.  They are all fairly small, and easy to colour.

I LOVE the simplicity of this card.  I think it's going to be one of my workshop cards for the next couple of months.  The colours are Night of Navy, and Whisper White.  The centre is Silver cardstock, and the images have been embossed using silver detail embossing powder.  Very elegant.

Pink and black are two colours that are outstanding together.  The butterflies are from the new Flight of the Butterfly set, which uses the 2-step stamping method.  It is quite easy to match the outlines to the main butterfly below.

Inspired by Nature is a set that contains 2 large images, and 2 sentiments.  We stamped the grass in Kiwi Kiss, and then overlaid the flowers in Chocolate Chip.  A simply but striking card.

We had a lot of fun stamping and chatting.  If you would like to attend the next mega-meeting, you need to become a demonstrator.  E-mail me at littleinklings@rogers.com or give me a call at 905-655-9347 to chat about it further.

Happy stamping!

Don't forget - Accessories Retirement list and Open House tomorrow night!!

The Stampin' Up! Retired Accessories list is being released tomorrow.  Make sure you have a look at it to see if there's anything your heart really desires before everything runs away.

We've already heard that the Purely Pomegranate and Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon has been sold out.  Make sure that you get your order in by the end of tomorrow evening.

My Retirement Open House is taking place tomorrow evening, from 7:30-9:30.  This is your chance to come out and see some of the retiring stamps, as well as look at the accessories list.  It is a free event, and everyone who comes out and places an order will be able to do one of the following:
  • Make 3 cards from scratch (paper has been cut)  OR
  • Choose 6 card fronts from my stash o' samples and then adhere them to cardstock to create full cards
The scratch cards are designs that I use in my traditional workshops.  I have leftovers of some of the card materials, and this is your opportunity to finish them off and take them home!

Where is the open house?  In my dining room of course - 2 Tavistock Avenue, Brooklin.  Let me know if you need directions.

I hope to see you there!

Yikes! I'm a bit behind...

What's today?  May 12th?  Wow.  I'm a tad late sending out my monthly newsletter to those on my mailing list.  My apologies...  I was a tad busy getting ready for my crazy garage sale on the weekend, and I kinda forgot about it.

But... on the bright side, I have good stuff to tell!

I've added three events to my calendar.  I have another Mom & Me stamping class scheduled for Saturday, June 14th.  Your munchkins can come to my place and make something cool for dad!  Just make sure you sign them up ASAP so that I know how many rugrats will be out to destroy my stamp room (aka dining room when there's no stamping stuff out).  Cost for this one is $10, but they'll have 2 projects to take home - one of which will definitely be for dad.

I have also scheduled a Loonies for Littles Journal night for Friday, June 27th.  If you like the kit, but are daunted by the prospect of putting the little journal together, this is the night for you!  If you get the kit, I'll chop it all up for you.  You just need to stamp and glue stuff in!  For those of you that already have the kit but want to come to create your journal, you can drop your kit off and I'll still chop the paper for you!  I'll also have some extra paper and embellishments for your journal - just to make it look extra awesome.  Let me know if either work for you and we'll go from there.  Cost for the first option is $45, and cost for the second option is $5.

Last, but not least, I'm going to have an All in the Family shadowbox class on Tuesday, July 15th.  Mark that one on your calendar!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post... it's the mega-awesome June promotion that they told us about today.  Big sneak preview of something from the new Fall/Winter catalogue...

Yesterday's Fun in London

I'm feeling a bit more awake now than I was when we returned from London last night.  Getting up at 5:00am is NOT my idea of a good time!  Leaving at 5:30am isn't fun either.  We went through the Timmy's drive-thru at about 6:00, and I was happy because my coffee and bagel were handed through the window.  I was one miffed girl though when I realized a half hour later that there was sugar in my coffee!!!  People who like their coffee black (aka me!) DO NOT want sugar in their coffee.  I drank it anyways as there were no other Timmy's around.  Blech!

Spring Fling in London was awesome!  I received some interesting cards, and 3-D items, and we made some gorgeous projects using Tart and Tangy.  There were some really neat demos put on by some of the talented ladies in Alicia Ryckman's group, and I certainly saw some new projects that I'm just going to HAVE to try!  Two demos from the U.S. were there as well.  They had some great ideas and tips for us, and both of them were hilarious to boot!

I took oodles of photos, but have only just loaded them into iPhoto.  I'll sort through them all, and post a few in the coming days.  I do have one for you today though... this is a wall hanging that was put together by Debbie Whatling.  She used So Saffron Paper, Soft Sky Prints DS paper, stamps, and items from the Pretties kit!  Enjoy!

Mark this on your calendar!!!

Save the date!!!

We're having our second big event on Saturday, May 24th!  I don't have many good tidbits to share with you now (there's much planning to do!), but I'll post the details as soon as they are available.

I can tell you this...  we are having another stamp-a-stack (aka Occasions Card Making workshop), and it will be combined with a scrapbook crop!

Stay tuned...
